A
longish bio:
Carmine Covelli is a performer, musician and media designer in
New York City. He has created a number of short films and videos,
some of which have appeared in film festivals and numerous venues
around the world. From 2004 - 2006 he toured the world as video
designer, lighting operator and documentarian for the electro-punk-dance
band, Le Tigre. His writing credits include bits for Murray Hill,
The Wau Wau Siters, one feature length screenplay, many short
comedy skits and his one man show. He is currently working on
a new internet dotcomedy series with a few others. He performs
regularly with the glam rock/comedy band, Moi? and can be heard
drumming, singing and shaking an egg on Na+An's new album.
Carmine studied acting in San Francisco under the watchful eye
of Stella Adler grad, Felecia Faulkner, who went on to teach at
the well respected A.C.T. acting school. Since moving to New York
he literally fell into the dance theater scene and has had the
honor of performing with some very fine choreographers including
Adrienne Truscott in "A Short Night of Short Dance",
"depict him on his horse", “they will use the
highways", and “genesis, no!” the latter two
of which he created video and co-created sound along with Neal
Medlyn. His one-man show, “Are You There Galapagos? It's
Me Carmine”, premiered at Galapagos Art Space in August
2006 as part of their acclaimed Evolve series and he also appeared
in Suzi Lori-Parks’ 365 Days|365 Plays at The Public Theater
in 2007.
Carmine briefly studied fine art at University of Delaware before
moving to California to study film and video. He spent two years
displaying and selling his paintings in group shows in San Francisco
and the Bay area before relocating to NYC in 2000. |
